Solomon's Carriage Carried by Armed Guardsby CBPepper
3:7Song of Solomon 3:7
Behold his bed, which is Solomon’s; threescore valiant men are about it, of the valiant of Israel.
The verse belongs to a poem picturing Christ and His church, whose mutual love is wonderful even though the church often lacks faithfulness and constancy. It depicts Solomon's bed guarded by sixty valiant men of Israel, a bodyguard surrounding him. The guards were tall and handsome young men dressed in Tyrian purple, with long black hair sprinkled daily with gold dust, who accompanied Solomon in his chariot of state.
The guards all held swords and were expert in war. The image means a precious thing strongly guarded and defended. What is so guarded is that the present world will be purified and made a beautiful habitation fit for a prince, where the redeemed will dwell on this earth after the day of judgment during Christ's reign with His saints in the renewed earth. The more than sixty guards represent more than one hundred of the greatest names in the church in all ages who held this belief, proving the doctrine is scriptural and the ancient orthodox faith of the church against the modern fable of the world's conversion.
