Song of Solomon 5:9

What is thy beloved more than another beloved, O thou fairest among women? what is thy beloved more than another beloved, that thou dost so charge us?

The verse stands as part of a dialogue in a poem filled with vivid, warm imagery. That poem is an Oriental love poem written in the warm figurative language and warm coloring of the East. The experiences of Solomon in it are typical of Christ and His church. The book is a poetic picture and parable of Christ and His church, setting forth Christ's wonderful love and the church's answering love to Him. That answering love is often lacking in faithfulness and constancy.
