The Bridegroom and Bride in the Spring Gardenby emmanuel_higgins

Song of Solomon 6:3

I am my beloved’s, and my beloved is mine: he feedeth among the lilies.

The verse declares mutual belonging and mutual love, that the speaker belongs to the beloved and the beloved belongs to the speaker. Applied to Christ, it describes a lasting relationship in which He loves and saves and gives Himself, and the believer belongs to Him forever. Applied to Jesus, it is personal assurance that He is mine and I am His, a witness to hold day by day.

It gives assurance of reconciliation to God that can come through affliction accepted as the means that saves and makes right. That reconciliation brings victory over impatience, and sweet communion with God in secret prayer with a sensing of His Spirit. It brings joyful praise and full trust in God even if life ends today.

In tedious nights of pain in back, limbs, and neck that break sleep and force constant change of position, it gives certain assurance. When the heart prays for grace and restoration to health, the Lord draws near. His promise becomes sure as faith stands in the shadow of the cross and looks to the rainbow of promise. It gives a longing desire to recover in order to proclaim the truth, and takes away anxiety and restlessness and dissatisfaction.
