Song of Solomon 7:10

I am my beloved’s, and his desire is toward me.

The verse belongs to one of the one thousand and five songs or poems Solomon wrote. It is cast as an Oriental love poem in the warm, vivid, figurative imagery of the East. It is given as a dialogue carried on between various parties. In that form it is a poetical picture or parable of Christ and His church.

So understood, the verse expresses the bond of love between Christ and the church, setting forth His wonderful love and her love in response to Him. Her answering love is often wanting in faithfulness and constancy. Its imagery belongs to the time when it was written and is not to be met with modern objection. It is to be read alone with God with that picture of Christ and His church kept in mind.
