The Bride Leans on Her Belovedby emmanuel_higgins

Song of Solomon 8:5

Who is this that cometh up from the wilderness, leaning upon her beloved? I raised thee up under the apple tree: there thy mother brought thee forth: there she brought thee forth that bare thee.

The figure advancing upward out of the wilderness while resting upon her beloved depicts the believer coming up from barrenness in reliance on Christ. To lean in this way is to learn through personal experience to depend on Him for strength. That experienced dependence comes first, and only then is one prepared to guide others to Him.
