“The Health Reformer.”

A MONTHLY JOURNAL.

This is a Journal of 32 pages, Especially Designed for the Household. It is

DEVOTED TO

PHYSICAL, MENTAL, and MORAL CULTURE.

OUR MOTTO:

Nature’s Laws,—God’s Laws; Obey and Live.

Nature’s Laws.—Health and Disease are not mere matters of chance, neither are the many ills of life the direct inflictions of Providence, as we are so often told; but there are certain laws founded in nature upon which health is based, and the violation of which inevitably results in disease.
God’s Laws.—Vigorous Mental Activity and Acute Moral Sensibility largely depend upon a healthy physical condition; hence it becomes a Moral Obligation to maintain, as nearly as possible, the highest degree of bodily health.
Obey and Live.—Every transgression of law, moral or physical, brings its penalty. Perfect obedience to all laws would insure immunity from suffering.
In accordance with these principles, the REFORMER teaches that

TO AVOID DISEASE

WE MUST

OBSERVE THE LAWS OF HEALTH.

Hygiene.—The Laws of Hygiene in all the various departments of life are fully elucidated and variously illustrated in each number of the journal.
Disease; Its Nature and Causes.—This subject is also thoroughly canvassed by various competent and reliable writers.
Treatment of Disease.—The proper mode of treating the various diseases to which mankind are subject is thoroughly discussed, and the only true and efficient method is carefully explained.
Drugs.—The many terrible, and too often irretrievable, consequences of the almost universal abuse of drugs as remedies, are fearlessly exposed, and drugs and poisons of every description are discarded.
Extreme Views.—All ultra positions are sedulously avoided; and the constant endeavor is to find the happy mean where truth always resides. And being

THE ORGAN OF NO SECT OR PARTY,

The journal is untrammeled by any of those barriers to progress which are always found where a sectarian or partisan spirit predominates.
The publishers of the REFORMER are actuated by purely philanthropic motives, their whole aim being to disseminate as widely as possible the true and noble principles of Health Reform. Hence the low rate at which the subscription price is fixed.
