The Seal of God in Revelation 7
Is the seal of God a literal mark or a reflection of character?
What is the seal in Revelation chapter 7?

1 And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.
2 And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea,
3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.
4 And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.
5 Of the tribe of Juda were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Reuben were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Gad were sealed twelve thousand.
6 Of the tribe of Aser were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Nepthalim were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Manasses were sealed twelve thousand.
7 Of the tribe of Simeon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Levi were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Issachar were sealed twelve thousand.
8 Of the tribe of Zabulon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Joseph were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Benjamin were sealed twelve thousand.
9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;
10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.
11 And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God,
12 Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.
13 And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they?
14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
15 Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.
16 They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat.
17 For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

The seal of the living God in Revelation 7 is the Sabbath of the fourth commandment, which represents a settled, mature character of total obedience to God's law. This distinguishing mark is placed in the foreheads of the 144,000 to signify their intellectual and spiritual stability in the truth.
🛡️ The Nature and Purpose of the Seal
The seal is a mark of redemption and protection that only angels can read, serving to shield the faithful during the upcoming time of trouble. Just as a legal seal contains the name, office, and jurisdiction of the lawgiver, God's seal is found within His law, specifically the Sabbath, which identifies Him as the Creator of heaven and earth Exodus 20:8-11.
Location: It is received only in the forehead, which symbolizes the mind and the heart's affections Revelation 7:3.
Protection: When the four angels release the winds of strife and destruction, only those with this mark will be spared from the final judgments Ezekiel 9:4-6.
Character: The seal is not a literal, visible mark, but rather a reflection of the image of Jesus fully and a state of being "without guile" Revelation 14:5.
🕊️ The Sealing Work and the 144,000
The sealing process is currently taking place in the heavenly sanctuary while Jesus is in the Most Holy Place. This work is the final preparation for the "little flock" of 144,000 who will stand on Mount Zion with the Lamb Revelation 14:1.
Spiritual Israel: While the tribes are named, these represent the "servants of our God" and the true "Israelites indeed" from all nations who follow the Lamb Romans 2:28-29.
The Sighing and Crying: Those who receive the seal are those who feel deep grief over the abominations and sins committed within the church and the world Ezekiel 9:4.
The Holy Spirit: The Holy Spirit is the sealer who stamps the impression of the truth upon the mind once the law of God is believed and loved Ephesians 1:13.
⚖️ The Great Final Choice
In the last days, humanity will be divided into two classes: those who receive the seal of God and those who receive the mark of the beast. This choice centers on which day of worship an individual acknowledges—the seventh-day Sabbath of the Lord or the man-made institution of Sunday.
God's Sign: The Sabbath is an eternal sign between God and His people, signifying their sanctification and acknowledgment of Him as the only true God Exodus 31:13Ezekiel 20:20.
Worldly Cares: Letting the mind be filled with worldly thoughts, exciting books, or anxiety about temporal needs shuts out the present truth and leaves no room for the seal.
Finality: Once the sealing is finished, Jesus will leave the sanctuary, and the destiny of every soul will be eternally fixed Revelation 22:11.
